MOUNTING LEDs TO THE BODY

Easily install RC-LIGHTS 5mm & 3mm LEDs onto any R/C body or canopy using one of two methods: THRU BODY or BEHIND BODY

LED leads can be soldered to for a hardwired connection. LED leads can be bent into any shape, and can be cut to any length (less than 0.30" not recommended). Use heat shrink to insulate LED leads any time they can come into contact with each other or bare metal.

BEHIND BODY / OPEN-AIR

Behind the body is easiest but requires a body with pre-masked light cutouts (no paint has been applied behind body light decals), OR a location where the LED stands free behind the body (under-glow, navigation strobes, etc).

STEP 1 Secure LED connector housing with aluminum tape OR a zip tie & base.

STEP 2 Position/aim LED at desired location.

THRU BODY (USING STANDARD LED HOLDER)

STEP 1 Drill a hole where a LED is to be mounted. 5MM STANDARD: 1/4" hole; 3MM STANDARD: 3/16" hole OR use a body reamer to little-by-little make each hole bigger until a snug fit is achieved.

STEP 2 Insert a LED holder into the hole just made.

STEP 3 Slide LED holder ring over the LED (only necessary for Heavy Duty LED installations where the backside of the LED is not easily accessible).

STEP 4 Insert the LED into the LED holder sitting in the hole previously drilled.

STEP 5 Slide the ring over the LED holder making sure to capture each leg of the LED holder with the ring.

For a low-profile installation mount LEDs to the body using a zip tie & base as shown below.

THRU BODY (USING CHROME LED HOLDER)

STEP 1 Drill a hole where a LED is to be mounted. 5MM CHROME: 5/16" hole; 3MM CHROME: 1/4" hole OR use a body reamer to little-by-little make each hole bigger until a snug fit is achieved.

STEP 2 Insert a LED holder into the hole just made.

STEP 3 Secure the nut onto the backside of the chrome LED holder.

STEP 4 If the LED leads may come into contact with each other slide the lead separator over both LED leads, otherwise discard or save for future use.

STEP 5 Insert the LED into the chrome LED holder and secure the connection with included pre-cut aluminum tape.

THRU BODY (USING NO LED HOLDER)

STEP 1 Drill a hole where a LED is to be mounted. 5MM : 5MM hole; 3MM: 3MM hole OR use a body reamer to little-by-little make each hole bigger until a snug fit is achieved.

STEP 2 Use a zip tie & base to mount the connector housing to the inside of the body. Pre-bend leads and achieve correct LED positioning before pulling the red liner tape from the zip tie base for the final application.
